Financial SupportOver its ten year history San Francisco Community has received funding from a number of government entities, foundations, and private citizens. We were launched with a $1.5 million grant from the San Francisco Department of the Environment, and, early-on, received hundreds of $5 to $20 donations from Bayview-Hunters Point and Potrero Hill residents. Over the last several years the bulk of our support has come from the San Francisco Public Utility Commission - to implement a state-funded toilet replacement program - and the California Public Utility Commission (CPUC). In response to SF Power's advocacy, the CPUC order Pacific Gas and Electric Company to fund a pilot program enabling small commercial energy users to participate in a demand-response program, which pays them to reduce their electricity use on short notice. Today, this pilot has morphed into a successful stand-alone initiative, and is close to paying for itself.
See the spreadsheet for more details on SF Power's funding sources. Note that the data contained in the spreadsheet aren't perfect, but are a roundly accurate reflection of our organizational budget. |
